Luiza Pârvu
Luiza Pârvu is a filmmaker and educator based in Tempe, AZ. She is a member of the European Film Academy. She holds an MFA in Film Production from New York University - Tisch School of The Arts, New York, USA. She is an experienced media maker with professional working knowledge of all areas of production and post-production. Her directing and editing work covers a variety of genres, in both fiction and creative non-fiction: documentary, multimedia installation, and immersive media.
The award winning films she has directed or edited so far have been recognized in over 150 film festivals and events worldwide such as Karlovy Vary IFF, Sundance FF, BFI London, Busan IFF, Transilvania IFF, Tribeca FF or Abu Dhabi IFF. In 2012, she was a nominee in the Rising Star category at the GOPO Romanian Film Industry Awards for directing her short film Draft 7.
Toma Peiu
Toma Peiu is a filmmaker, visual artist, writer and media scholar, pursuing a PhD in Emergent Technologies and Media Arts Practices at the University of Colorado Boulder, where he is also a fellow of the Center for Media, Religion and Culture. He holds an MA in Media Studies from The New School University.
He currently researches migration, mobility, borders and place-making, spending time between field sites in Brooklyn, NY and Central Asia. His works, including the narrative shorts he wrote and produced with his partner, director Luiza Pârvu, have been presented in over 100 venues on five continents, from multiplex cinemas to churches, and from congress halls to television stations, teahouses and community centers.
Toma has recently written, produced and recorded location sound on Ubi Bene Ibi Patria, a first feature documentary, co-directed with Luiza Pârvu.
