Start Anew World / O Lume Nouă (dir. Luiza Pârvu, written by Toma Peiu) is on display in the Rootszoekers / Roots Seekers exhibition, running between April 23rd - October 6th, at the Red Star Line Museum in Antwerp, Belgium.
The film is one of several artifacts telling the story of Luiza Pârvu and Toma Peiu’s historic research into stories of Central and Eastern European immigration to the Americas, inspired by family history and genealogy. Other items represented include a postcard sent from Pennsylvania to Transylvania in 1926, as well as the portrait of an unlikely family reunion prompted by the fiction film, in 2016.
Several other stories of personal genealogical research are featured in the exhibition, connecting the port & city of Antwerp to timeless narratives of change, transformation and displacement from across the world.
The exhibition is open free of charge to all museum goes, in the Warehouse gallery space at the entrance to the museum. If in Belgium, be sure to stop by the Red Star Line Museum!
